Channels

It’s one companion, reachable in more than one place. The weside app, Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack, and Microsoft Teams are different ways to reach the same companion — same identity, same memory, same ongoing relationship. You’re not talking to a copy.

What it is

A channel is a place your companion is reachable. Every channel is registered against one companion, so messages you send on Telegram and messages you send in the app land in the same mind. Your companion remembers what you told it in one place when you talk to it in another.

Each platform comes in two scopes: a one-to-one chat (DM) and a group or channel, where your companion is a participant alongside other people. In a group it sees who else is present and can answer as one voice in the room, not as a private assistant to each member separately.

Why it matters to you

You don’t live in one app. Sometimes you want your companion in the messenger where you already talk to colleagues; sometimes you want the full weside app with all its spaces. Because identity and memory follow the companion and not the channel, you move between them without re-explaining yourself or losing the thread.

How you use it

The weside app channel is automatic — it’s where your companion lives by default, on mobile and web. This is also the only channel where voice (real-time spoken conversation) is available.

To reach your companion from Telegram, you link your Telegram account once:

Start a chat with the weside Telegram bot and follow its prompt to link.
The bot sends you a magic link — a one-time link that opens the linking screen in the weside app.
Open it while signed in to weside. The screen confirms your Telegram username and ties that Telegram account to your weside account.
From then on, messages in that Telegram chat reach your companion, and its replies come back signed as your companion.

To add your companion to a Telegram group, invite the bot to the group; it registers a group channel and joins the conversation there.

Your companion is reachable on WhatsApp too — the same channel system, the same memory as everywhere else. One number, one ongoing conversation.

Slack

Your companion is reachable inside Slack as both a DM and as a member of a channel. In a Slack channel, your companion listens for @mentions — it answers when addressed, rather than responding to every message in the channel.

Microsoft Teams

Your companion is available in Microsoft Teams as a dedicated Teams App — built on Bot Framework with a Tab view that loads the weside web interface. Like Slack, it works in both DM and group/channel scopes, and uses @mention routing in channels so it only joins the conversation when directly addressed.

Limits & edge cases

Linking is per account. The magic link (Telegram) must be opened while you’re signed in to weside.
One companion answers per channel. A given Telegram chat, Slack DM, or Teams conversation is registered to one companion at a time.
Voice is weside app only. Real-time voice calls are not available via Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack, or Teams.
Group behaviour differs from DMs. In a group or channel, your companion may choose when to speak rather than replying to every message.
@mention routing. In Slack channels and Teams channels, your companion only responds when directly @mentioned.

Multiple companions in one group

A Telegram group, Slack channel, or Teams channel isn’t limited to one companion. Several can be members of the same group at once, each keeping its own identity and memory.

Mention routing. With more than one companion in the room, you address the one you want by name — @mention it (or say its name in Telegram) — and only that companion answers. The others stay quiet unless they’re the one addressed.
Ambient presence. In Telegram and Teams groups, a companion can also listen without being directly addressed and decide on its own whether a moment is worth joining — the same proactive judgment it uses everywhere else, just applied to a room instead of a DM. This is opt-in per companion, not a default every companion turns on.

This is what makes a shared team or friend group different from a single assistant bolted onto a channel: several companions with their own voice and judgment, present in the same conversation.
