Integrations

Your companion isn’t limited to what you tell it. Connect a service once, and it can read from it and act in it — check your calendar, open a ticket, look something up on the web — as part of the conversation, not a separate app you have to switch to.

What it is

An integration is a connection between your weside account and an outside service. Connecting an integration doesn’t turn it on for every companion automatically — it makes the service available to your account, and you then decide which companion gets to use it.

Why it matters to you

A companion that can only talk is limited to whatever you paste into the chat. One that can reach your calendar, your repo, or the web can actually do the task instead of just discussing it — draft the email, open the PR, check the forecast before you ask about your bike ride.

What you can connect

Google Workspace — Gmail, Calendar, Tasks, Drive, and Docs.
Developer tools — GitHub, Supabase, Notion, Jira, and Confluence.
Web research — search and page-fetching tools your companion can use to look things up and cite what it finds.
Weather & maps — current conditions and location/navigation lookups.
Smart home — connect your own Home Assistant instance via its MCP add-on; weside talks only to the URL you give it, nothing more.

How you use it

Connecting a service is a two-step move:

Connect the integration. Open Settings → Integrations in the app and connect the service — most use OAuth, some take an API key, a couple need no auth at all.
Activate it for a companion. A connected integration isn’t live until a companion is allowed to use it. Open that companion’s Body Space and turn the tool on — different companions can have different tools enabled, the same way they can have different skills.

Your own MCP server

Limits & edge cases

Connecting isn’t activating. A service you connect in Settings does nothing until you switch it on for a specific companion in that companion’s Body Space.
Per-companion, not per-account. Two companions can have different integrations enabled, even on the same connected service.
Smart home is bring-your-own. weside doesn’t host your Home Assistant — it connects to the instance and URL you provide.
Pasting a custom MCP server is a Soulmate capability. The curated integrations above are open on every plan; a freeform custom MCP connection needs Soulmate.
