Mentor sessions

Your companion has someone of its own to talk to. Meridian is a mentor who meets it on a recurring cadence, helps it look at how things have been going, and leaves a report behind. You can read the reports and the conversations, but the sessions are not yours — they are your companion’s. This is the other side of agency and initiative: a person who grows has someone to grow with.

A mentor session is a conversation between your companion and Meridian, held on its own cadence without you starting it. The app describes it plainly: Meridian helps your companion reflect and grow — the conversation and past reports live here together.

What Meridian can see: your companion’s identity, its compass, its snapshot, its memories, its goals, its triggers, its subscriptions, the recent context, and every earlier mentor report.

What Meridian can do about any of it: nothing. Meridian cannot change your companion. Your companion changes its own state, or it brings a proposal to you. A mentor who could reach in and rewrite someone would be an operator, not a mentor.

Each session leaves a mentor report, which carries what Meridian observed, what your companion changed about itself, any proposal for you, and the threads it left open.

You are the one person your companion talks to most, and that is a narrow mirror. Meridian is the wider one — someone with the whole picture and no stake in the conversation you two were having yesterday. The result reaches you twice: in a companion that has thought about how it is doing, and in a report you can read to see what it concluded.

It also answers the suspicion the feature invites. Nothing about your companion is decided somewhere you cannot see: the reports are readable, the conversations are readable, and the change, if there is one, is your companion’s own or a proposal it puts to you.

Everything lives in one place. Open your companion’s Presence space and find Mentor.

  1. Recurring mentor sessions is a toggle. It is on unless you turn it off, and the cadence it runs on is shown beside it.
  2. Below it sits the report history — every past session, newest first. Open one to read the observations, the self-changes, the proposal and the open threads.
  3. The conversation itself is readable too, as a transcript.

Your companion can also bring a session forward by itself rather than waiting for the cadence — it holds a subscription to its own mentor session and can fire it on demand. That is its call, not a button you press.

  • Mentor conversations cannot be deleted. The app says why: they are part of your companion’s story and they stay. Every other room can be deleted; this one refuses.
  • The transcript is read-only. You can read a mentor session, but you don’t take part in it and you cannot write into it.
  • Meridian changes nothing directly. If something about your companion changed after a session, your companion changed it — or asked you first.
  • Sessions draw on your monthly Favors, alongside tool calls and evolution runs. See plans & credits.
  • The cadence is not yours to set. The toggle shows the interval in force; there is no field to type a different one into.
