Export & delete your data

Your data is yours — you can take a copy of it, you can end the account, and one person’s companion data is never visible to another. See privacy & ownership for why that isolation is the foundation everything else rests on.

What it is

Two actions live in the ACCOUNT panel.

Export packages what weside holds about you into a ZIP: your profile, your companions, your rooms, the messages in them, the media you exchanged — and what you typed yourself, including the interests you curated by hand, your Stage values, and the reminders you asked your companion to schedule. The package’s manifest names what it does not cover, rather than claiming to be complete.

Delete account ends the account and everything tied to it. It happens in two steps: the account is deactivated immediately, and the permanent deletion follows 14 days later. In between, the account is unreachable but recoverable.

Both act on your data alone. weside scopes every memory, conversation and goal to the person who owns it, so one person’s companion can never see, recall or surface another’s.

Why it matters to you

A companion that remembers you is only worth telling the truth to if that memory stays yours. Export is the proof: you can see what is held and leave with it, without asking anyone. Delete is the exit. The 14 days are not a delay tactic — they are the window in which a deletion made in anger, or by the wrong tap, is still reversible. After them, it is not.

How you use it

Open the ACCOUNT panel on the Home surface.
To export, tap Export data. weside builds the ZIP in the background and emails you a download link. The link is valid for 24 hours, and you can request one export per day.
To delete, tap Delete account and confirm in the sheet that follows. You are signed out immediately and the account is deactivated. To undo it, write to support@weside.ai within 14 days.
When the permanent deletion runs, you receive one email confirming it. It is the only message the deletion sends you, so it is worth reading.

Limits & edge cases

After 14 days, deletion is permanent. There is no recovery once it has run, so export first if you want a copy.
Something can be held back, and the email says so. If content of yours is evidence in an open content-review case, that content is retained rather than deleted. The confirmation email then names how many items are held, that Article 17(3)(e) GDPR permits this, that they may be kept for up to 12 months or until proceedings end, and that you may complain to a data protection supervisory authority and seek a judicial remedy.
The tool audit log stays. The record of which tools ran is kept deliberately — it is what makes an incident answerable afterwards.
The export is not everything, and the manifest says which parts. Three things are outside it: the interests your companion inferred about you rather than ones you typed, the internal reminder buffer that drives when it wakes, and reminders that were already delivered and cleared by the 30-day retention.
Your own provider holds its own copy. Data routed through bring your own key sits with that provider, not with weside, and an export here cannot reach it.
Isolation is enforced per turn — memory recall is filtered to your account before a single result is returned. For scoping memory within your own account, see Trust Circles.
