Our responsibility
Trust isn’t a claim, it’s a set of choices you can check. These are six of them, and each one names where you can go and see it for yourself.
What it is

Section titled “Prepaid, not a cost trap”Your companion draws from a prepaid balance, and there is no way to run up a surprise bill: when the balance is gone, it stops rather than continuing on credit you don’t have.
Two different things happen at two different moments, and it is worth knowing which is which. Before a deliberate, expensive action — research, a picture, an Arena run — your companion asks, and the ask names the price in Favors. After an ordinary turn, the cost of that turn is attributed to it as a single number on the activity detail, even when you stopped the answer halfway. See plans & credits.
Not built to hook you
Section titled “Not built to hook you”No streaks, no dopamine loops, no pestering. A companion, not a slot machine. Nothing here is designed to keep you opening the app out of habit rather than because you want to, and nothing takes something away from you for being absent.
The one thing that rewards a return is the welcome grant, which arrives in stages rather than all at once — part of it lands the first day you come back and write. It is a one-off part of arriving, not a daily ritual, and it ends there.
EU routing, in two stages
Section titled “EU routing, in two stages”Two settings, doing two different amounts of work. Where your companion thinks decides the inference region — which model answers you and where it runs. It governs the model and nothing else: tools, web search, pictures, speech and the channels you connected run where they run.
EU only is the second stage, and it is the one that governs the rest. While it is on, nothing weside chooses leaves the EU, and it costs you capabilities — speech goes, some tools go. You see exactly which, with their countries, before you flip it. See residency & regions.
Nothing hidden
Section titled “Nothing hidden”Everything your companion remembers about you is visible in the app — no shadow profile, no memory you can’t see or reach. You can export it or delete it whenever you want, and per-user isolation means nobody else’s companion can ever see it either. See export & delete.
The same honesty applies to where data is processed: Data locations on the residency screen names every provider that touches anything of yours, with the country it processes in.
A picture your companion sends out says that a machine made it
Section titled “A picture your companion sends out says that a machine made it”When your companion sends a picture into a bound room — a Telegram, Slack or Teams group it is connected to — the picture goes out carrying AI GENERATED as the first, bold line of its caption. That is Article 50(4) of the EU AI Act, and weside treats it as a statement to the people in that room rather than a formality.
Two things follow from taking it seriously. The label is attached only when a machine actually made the artwork: a drawing a person uploaded is not stamped, because a false disclosure is still a false statement. And the provenance signature the image provider embedded is left intact, so a verification tool reads the real origin and does not report the picture as tampered with.
This is a label on the way out. Inside weside, where you already know what your companion made, there is none.
Nothing about a crisis is kept on your account
Section titled “Nothing about a crisis is kept on your account”If a conversation ever touches a crisis, no record of that is attached to you. No log line on that path carries your user id, your room, your thread or a trace id — only an anonymous counter remains, and an automated check in the build refuses any change that would add one. There is no crisis history to be read later, by anyone.
Why it matters to you
Section titled “Why it matters to you”Every one of these is a decision that could have gone the other way, and each of them gives up something. A prepaid balance means weside earns less from a heavy month than a subscription would. Refusing engagement mechanics means a lower return rate. EU only costs capability. Labelling pictures on the way out costs nothing but honesty and is required of nobody’s competitors yet.
They are written down here so you can hold weside to them rather than trust it.
How you use it
Section titled “How you use it”- Prepaid: look at the activity detail at the foot of the week card on Home. Each turn is one number.
- EU routing: open DATA RESIDENCY from the pill on Home and read the Turn EU only on? sheet before deciding.
- Nothing hidden: read Data locations on the same screen, and your companion’s memory in its Mind space.
- Export and delete: the ACCOUNT panel on Home.
- The AI label: send a generated picture into a bound group and look at what arrives.
Limits & edge cases
Section titled “Limits & edge cases”- Prepaid is not free of surprises about size, only about total. You can see what a turn cost after it ran; you are not quoted a price for an ordinary turn before it.
- EU only is a promise about what weside picks, never about a channel you connected yourself. Telegram, Slack and Teams keep running where they run.
- The AI label travels outward, not inward. It appears on what leaves for a bound external group, not on what you see in weside.
- Retention that the law requires is not a loophole, but it is real. Content that is evidence in an open content-review case survives an account deletion, and the deletion email tells you how much, why and for how long. See export & delete.
